Idle Coffee Tycoon ("the Game") is developed by Dane ("we", "us", "our"), based in the United Kingdom. This policy explains what data the Game collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding that data under UK GDPR, EU GDPR, and other applicable laws.
1. Data We Collect
Account Data
- Anonymous authentication identifier (Firebase Anonymous Auth) — a random ID with no personal information attached
- Player nickname (chosen by you, displayed publicly on leaderboards alongside other players)
Gameplay Data
- Game progress and save data (coins, upgrades, location, prestige level, etc.)
- Challenge progress and completion status
- Leaderboard scores and ranking points
- Anonymous gameplay-pattern data used to detect automated tools and protect leaderboard integrity (e.g. tap timing analysis). No personally identifying information is collected as part of this.
Purchase Data
- Records of in-app purchases you have made (the fact of the purchase only — used to restore non-consumable items such as Extended Offline and Golden Grind across devices)
- We do not see, store, or process your payment card details, billing address, or any other payment information. All payments are handled directly by Google Play Billing.
Notification Data
- A device-specific notification token (Firebase Cloud Messaging) used to send local reminders, e.g. when offline earnings are full. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.
Advertising Data
- Google AdMob may collect device identifiers, IP address, approximate location (derived from IP), and ad interaction data to serve relevant ads. This is handled by Google's SDK and is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- For users in the United Kingdom, European Economic Area, Switzerland, and certain US states, we use Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to obtain your consent for personalised advertising before any ads are served. You can change your consent choice at any time via the "Privacy Options" button in the in-game Settings panel.
Diagnostic Data
- Firebase services automatically collect basic technical data (device model, operating system version, IP address at the time of writing data, crash logs) to help maintain reliability of the service. This data is governed by Google's Firebase privacy terms.
2. How We Use Your Data
- To save and restore your game progress across sessions and devices
- To display your chosen nickname on leaderboards
- To track challenge and leaderboard progress
- To deliver in-app purchases you have made and restore previously purchased items
- To send local notifications you have permitted
- To serve rewarded advertisements through Google AdMob
- To detect and prevent automated tools or fraudulent gameplay that would otherwise compromise leaderboard fairness
We do not sell, share, or transfer your personal data to any third parties beyond the services listed in this policy.
3. Legal Basis for Processing (UK / EU users)
Under UK GDPR and EU GDPR, we process your data on the following legal bases:
- Contract — to deliver the Game, your purchases, and cloud-saved progress
- Legitimate interest — to maintain leaderboard integrity, prevent abuse, and improve the Game
- Consent — for personalised advertising, where required by law
4. In-App Purchases
The Game offers optional in-app purchases for cosmetic and quality-of-life features. All purchases are processed by Google Play Billing, which handles all payment information directly. We receive only confirmation that a purchase was completed, which we use to grant the corresponding in-game item.
Refunds are managed by Google Play. You can request a refund by following Google's official refund process. We are not able to issue refunds directly.
5. Third-Party Services
The Game uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
6. Data Storage, Security & International Transfers
Game data is stored locally on your device (via Unity PlayerPrefs) and in the cloud (via Google Cloud Firestore). Cloud data is associated with an anonymous ID, not your real identity. We use industry-standard security practices provided by Google Firebase to protect stored data.
Cloud data may be processed and stored on Google's servers outside the United Kingdom and European Economic Area, including in the United States. Google maintains appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) to ensure data is protected to a standard equivalent to UK / EU data protection law.
7. Data Retention
Local game data remains on your device until you uninstall the Game. Cloud-saved data is retained for as long as your anonymous account remains active. If your account shows no activity for 24 months, we may delete the associated cloud data. You can request earlier deletion at any time using the contact details below.
8. Children's Privacy
The Game is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Right to deletion — request deletion of your cloud-saved data. Uninstalling the Game removes all local data automatically.
- Right to rectification — request correction of inaccurate data (e.g. nickname changes are also available in-game, subject to a 30-day cooldown)
- Right to data portability — request a copy of your data in a portable format
- Right to object or restrict processing — ask us to stop or limit processing of your data
- Right to opt out of personalised ads — adjust ad preferences in your device's Google Ad Settings
- Right to withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email below. We will respond within 30 days.
If you are in the United Kingdom and believe we have not handled your data appropriately, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). EU residents may contact their local data protection authority.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Game after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
